Get ready to explore one of the most beautiful and affluent regions in the Netherlands. Your cycling tour kicks off at the Abcoude train station, just a short 15-minute train ride from Amsterdam. Pedal through the stunning River Vecht area, home to impressive country houses and castles. Don’t miss the charming villages of Loenen and Breukelen for a quick coffee break. Cycle through the classic Dutch polders to the historic town of Worden, where you can enjoy a relaxing lunch on a cozy terrace. End the day near stunning lakes before settling in for the night in Gouda.

Before hitting the road, take some time to explore the old city of Gouda. You can’t miss the cheese museum and if you’re there on Thursday mornings, check out the famous cheese market. Load up on some delicious Gouda stroopwafels for the ride ahead. Next, make your way to the Kinderdijk windmills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring 19 incredible windmills. After admiring the mills, continue to the historic port city of Dordrecht, one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands.

Soak in the natural beauty of Biesbosch National Park on the outskirts of Dordrecht. Marvel at the vast network of rivers, creeks, and islands that make up one of the last extensive areas of freshwater tidal wetlands in Northwestern Europe. Take the Dordtsche Kil tunnel and enjoy your lunch in the charming village of Strijen. Cross the impressive Hollandsch Diep, part of the Rhine valley, via ferry to reach the historic town of Willemstad with its well-preserved fortifications. If you wish to skip the ferry ride, you can cycle along the coastline to the other side. This will extend your trip for around 10 kilometers.

You will tackle the province of Zeeland in the southwest of the Netherlands, known for its many islands and scenic cycle paths. Admire the many bridges and dams that were built after the 1953 flood barrier to protect this area. The town of Zierikzee, with almost 600 monuments, is one of the most beautiful towns in the province and a great place to spend the night.

The last day of your tour is sure to leave a lasting impression. Take the ferry from the coastal city of Vlissingen across the Westerschelde, the gateway to the port of Antwerp. Sail past massive cargo ships before arriving at the southernmost part of the Netherlands. Pedal along a stunning canal lined with huge trees and take a final break in the picturesque art village of Damme before arriving at the UNESCO monument of Bruges, Belgium’s major attraction.
